Venezuela's economic sectors, from official sources
Official sources are published separately: the Official Gazette, OFAC licences, OPEC, the EIA and company filings. Sector Venezuela's automated models bring them together in a single reference: rules, appointments, holdings by field and trade. Records link to their source and carry the label Official, Reported or Derived: facts only, in Spanish and English.
Venezuela, sector by sectorEach sector runs on the same four layers: rule register, official data, ownership register and version tracking.

About Sector Venezuela
Sector Venezuela is a monitoring platform for Venezuela's economic sectors: a rule register, official data, an ownership register and version tracking, built on automated source feeds and maintained by automated models. It is free, written for investors and the people who advise them, and covers oil first; founded in 2026. It is not affiliated with any government or official body, and it gives no advice, opinions or forecasts.
PlatformFour layers per sector, on two foundations · each count links to its records
01Source feedsEach automated feed with its latest data and last check
02MethodHow each layer is built and refreshed
Four layers, one record per sector
| Layer | Inputs | What the models do | Refresh |
|---|---|---|---|
| Layer 1Rule registerRules → | OFAC general licences, FAQs and designations; Federal Register; Official Gazette; Venezuelan laws and decrees; EU and UK sanctions regulations. | Restate each rule in force from the official text, cite the article or licence, classify it by subject, jurisdiction and legal rank, and quote the obligations and deadlines it sets. | OFAC and the Gazette checked daily; a new rule is recorded when the daily check finds it |
| Layer 2Official dataTrade → | OPEC, EIA, US Census, UN Comtrade, Eurostat, CORES, OPEC rig count. | Collect each series as published, convert units where stated (6.5 barrels per tonne), calculate shares, changes and per-barrel values, and read each publisher's release calendar. | Checked daily; each series updates on its publisher's release date |
| Layer 3Ownership registerHoldings → | Company results, filings and releases; official statements; press reports, labelled. | Record each partner's stake by field and joint venture, classify partner types, and mark structures not re-confirmed in a current source. | Updated when a company or official filing reports a change |
| Layer 4Version trackingChanges → | Each new licence version, Gazette issue, decree or law. | Date each new version, compare it with the version it replaces, log the change and keep then-and-now comparisons. | When the daily check finds a new version |
Summaries, comparisons and classifications are produced by automated models and show the time of their last update; only the official text has legal effect. Method detail on the Methodology page.

06Corrections
Corrections made to published data or text are listed here with their date. Routine data updates (a new month, a revised figure from the publisher) are not corrections and appear in the change log.
06PrivacyCookies, analytics, third-party servers and email sign-ups
The site sets no cookies, has no accounts and runs no advertising trackers. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and reports only aggregate figures (pages, countries, referring sites). Fonts (Google Fonts), chart and map code (cdnjs) and base-map tiles (OpenFreeMap) are loaded from third-party servers, which receive the visitor's IP address as part of any web request.
Email updates. If you sign up, your email address is stored in the project's own Cloudflare account with the date and the page you signed up from, only to send you Sector Venezuela updates. It is never sold or shared. To stop automated abuse, sign-up attempts are counted per hour under a one-way scrambled code of the network address; the address itself is not stored and the count expires after an hour. If the project later sends through a newsletter service, the list moves there and this page will name it. To unsubscribe or have your address deleted, write to [email protected].

Labels
Official A government document (Gaceta Oficial, ministries, White House, State Department, Treasury/OFAC, EIA, OPEC, customs agencies) or a company's own filing or press release.
Reported Wire press (Reuters, Bloomberg and similar), shown until an official document confirms it. When sources disagree, the versions are shown side by side.
Derived Calculated by Sector Venezuela's automated models from published figures (for example tonnes to barrels, or shares of a total); the method is stated next to the number.
Sector Venezuela does not estimate, forecast or give opinions.
How the models work
Each day, Sector Venezuela's automated models collect official documents and data, scan news and filings for rule changes, track scheduled dates, check that each figure carries a source, and review the site's security. Summaries, explainers and translations are generated by the models from the cited sources.
Automated checks run on each update: each record must cite a source, official records are preferred, press reports stay labelled until an official document confirms them, and calculated figures state their method. Each day's changes are logged.
Changes are dated in the change log, and each figure links to the document it comes from, so statements can be checked against the source.
